MAKE A TINY BOOK!
Become a bookbinder and hand make a tiny book necklace or key chain! Each little book is less than 2 inches tall, and is a fully functioning blank journal or sketchbook with 40 blank pages to doodle on. Attendees can choose between leather and felt for their covers, available in a variety of colors, and have the opportunity to work with professional marbled or printed artist papers.
BOOKBINDING FOR ARTISTS: CHAPBOOKS
Have a collection of poems you want to self-publish? Want to expand your creativity into another art medium? Learn how to make chapbooks, historically used to publish small, inexpensive pamphlets of writing. Attendees will learn 3 different types of chap book bindings they can easily recreate at home for their writings and artwork, in addition to taking home the books produced in the workshop.
LECTURE: A COLORFUL HISTORY OF PIGMENTS AND POISON
Where does color come from? Enjoy a journey through time and space, learning of the famous colors coveted throughout history- and their colorful backstories. From indigo and woad to lead and arsenic, discover how these materials transformed into such coveted colors, and the consequences of their use.
